Family Volunteer Night at the Houston Food Bank Warehouse
Join our BCS community and volunteer as a family at the Houston Food Bank Warehouse to help make a difference for people with food needs
WHAT TO EXPECT:
* Volunteer tasks could include: inspecting (reading expiration dates, etc.), sorting, and boxing donated food items for distribution, breaking down boxes for storage / recycling, and similar warehouse tasks
* Everyone who attends must be at least 6 years old (no baby-wearing, no toddler tag-alongs, etc.)
* Volunteers age 6-17 must be accompanied by a parent / guardian who volunteers alongside them for the shift. No student drop offs--this is a family event.
HOW TO SIGN UP:
* Volunteers age 6-17 must have a completed Youth Volunteer Consent Form signed by a parent / guardian. A copy of this form can be downloaded by clicking the Resources tab on your Volunteer Profile page.
* Each volunteer must be registered in advance with our BCS event in the Houston Food Bank system
. * If you have volunteered at the Houston Food Bank before, you already have a user account. Log in before clicking on our registration link.
. * If not, create your volunteer account first and log in before clicking on our registration link.

. * Even the 6-year-olds need their own user ID and password and must be registered individually with our group in advance
. * It is NOT enough for just the parent / guardian of a family to register online--each person needs their own log in and registration
WHAT TO WEAR:
* Personal items are not allowed in the project area and locker space is limited. Please leave your personal items and valuables at home or lock them out of sight in your vehicle before checking in.
* Required attire: closed-toe and closed-heel shoes
* Recommended attire: long pants, shirts with sleeves, work gloves if you want to wear some, be prepared for your clothes to get dirty in the warehouse, dress in layers so you are comfortable throughout your shift in the warehouse
WHERE TO GO:
* Arrive 10-15 minutes before our shift to park, check-in, receive instructions, and begin our shift on time
* Parking: Houston Food Bank has a front parking lot and an overflow lot behind the building
